A climbing gym in Val Seriana
Cornagera - Aviatico Duration of the route: 2.30 elevation gain: 500m
Grignetta today? The cliff Cornagera has been known since 1910 as Grignetta Bergamasca in the Guide of the Italian Touring Club, it is by definition the place where the people of Bergamo go climbing.
A truly unique landscape characterized by deep ravines and intricate mazes, around which rise imposing rocky walls, creating a scaled-down canyon.
Cornagera is not only an excellent reference point for climbing, but also for trekking.
How to get to Cornagera?
Starting from Cantul, a locality in Aviatico and continuing along via Cornagera, it is possible to immerse oneself in the nature of the place.
After a short while, you take a path, number 537, very steep as you enter the dense forest. After a walk of about 30 minutes, you reach the foot of a scree slope, that is, a pile of disintegrated rocks due to freeze-thaw cycles.
From this point, it is possible to admire the towers of Cornagera: they emerge with their white and limestone mass from the surrounding meadows. From here on, the path takes on a double numbering, 537-521.
Then you arrive at the most fascinating part of the entire route, namely the maze. It is an area to be crossed with great attention and caution, especially in winter and with snow, and it is recommended for those who are experienced.
The path then leads to the Büs de la Carolina or Buco della Carolina, a crack in the rock that, especially in the first part, is very narrow and you find yourself face to face with the mountain. It then opens up, but if you have claustrophobia issues, we recommend taking the parallel route.
At the end of the path, you will find the Rifugio del Monte Poieto, from where you can admire the beautiful sunset over the Presolana massif.
