Rusio: a village suspended in time
A magical walk
For those coming from the city, the mountain is a refuge where one can reconnect with themselves. Silence, peace, and tranquility are the foundation of a stay in a holiday home among the peaks. And outside? Outside is the same, nature creates a suspended atmosphere where one can let go.
Walking slowly and with a measured pace, perhaps with the help of a stick found along the way.
A tip for a simple walk? Towards the Borgo di Rusio, a small hamlet easily reachable from the center of Castione della Presolana with a few minutes of walking: in short, four steps suitable for adults, children, and even the elderly.
It feels like going back in time when walking along the tree-lined road and to the left the old sawmill that opens the doors to the stone path. You pass over a small bridge above a stream and continue towards the little houses of the hamlet.
As you ascend, already from the first bend, you glimpse through the branches of the trees the narrow belfry of the church of San Giacomo, which is located at the highest point. Like in the old neighborhoods, this small church is the focal point around which the houses are concentrated. The sound of the small bells fills the air of the little valley and gives a sense of lightness to the soul.
Next to it is a spring water source, where you can dip your hands to cool off in the summer and warm up in the winter. Incredible, but true, dipping cold hands in icy water creates such a thermal shock that it releases warmth that gives the body a pleasant sensation and allows you to continue the walk.
A cluster of stone houses, the soul of the hamlet: an explosion of flowers during the beautiful season and objects hanging on the walls during winter.
Just behind the bend, to break the walk and cool off during the summer, a small ice cream shop that makes ice cream with a special ingredient, goat's milk.
Following the path, the descent on the pebbles begins, which after a few hundred meters rises again to return to Castione.
